Learninghood (where you are right now!) is a ‘Neighbourhood of Learning’, where we share what we know. This is a site I own, develop and curate. I will post up daily all PowerPoint slidedecks, videos used in class, assignments and other things needed by you will need to be successful. If you are confused about what to do at any given time check here first to see if you can find what you need for clarification and if not then contact me through Teams.
We will also be doing some blogging as we go through this course as a way for you to demonstrate your learning, reflect, and connect with students and experts in the field. This sub-blog has not been set up yet but I will provide you with the link when it is ready!
I would suggest that you bookmark this in your phone and in your computer browser so you have it at your fingertips!
These will take place in Microsoft Teams daily from 9:00 – 3:00pm (breaks and lunch are also in that time period). You will have a specific team set up for your science class. When you log in into Office.com (where you can access email, O365 programs, etc with your board credentials) you will see our team – for example ‘Science Gr9 – Q4’. This will be the hub of our interactions – virtual meetings, submission of work, etc.
There are several channels (tabs on the side). The main one will be where I post overall instructions, submission boxes and any class updates. The ‘Virtual Class’ tab is where all daily meetings will take place. I have created calendar invites for these but you can also just go to that tab and click ‘join meeting’. I will record each lesson and those will also be found in this tab. This will allow you to review the lesson or view it if you have missed it.
The last tab is for the interactions with your Buddy Prep Teacher in period 4. Students will go there and respond to the attendance daily post to be marked present that period. This is also where they can meet with them if need be for clarification or ask questions in the chat.
I look forward to the class with you. I will do everything I can to plan and guide you through your distant learning experience in a positive and enriching way. Please know I am always available to ask questions and/or troubleshoot any tech issues with you through MS Teams. Also, remember that you need to focus during online learning: tv’s should be off during meetings and lessons, to participate in lessons to understand new material, complete independent work right when it is assigned (this one is so easy to push off until later). If there are specific concerns, please contact me and we can work together to ensure you are learning and dealing well with this shift to distance learning.
(Cutest me ever!)
