Assignment 1: Sources of Light Research

Read through the textbook section.  Please click into the word document (Sources of Light Ass) and research various sources of light.  Remember you can use the textbook reading to help with it or you can use the internet.  Remember to find diagrams/drawings of how each light source works so that you can explain it later (cut and paste those into your work – or draw if you are doing by hand).  Also answer question 2 and 3 in the understanding concept questions.  Submit your work digitally to Teams in the 1-What is Light and Sources submission folder.

Assignment 2: Electromagnetic Waves and their Uses

Objective: The Electromagnetic Spectrum is the distribution of electromagnetic radiation according to frequency or wavelength. Therefore, visible light, gamma rays, and microwaves are really the same thing; they are all electromagnetic radiation, they simply differ in their wavelengths. However, each section of the EM spectrum has a different function in our society.  Your objective is to determine the different uses of each wavelength in our society.  Use the resources provided or other reputable sites to complete this assignment.

Purpose: Identify and label the visible and invisible regions of the Electromagnetic Spectrum and find their useful purpose for us Humans!

Question: For each of the waves you have identified give their wavelength and find 2-3 uses for radiation in that range.

Please use the word file in the resource section (1-Ass2 – EMS Uses). Submit your work digitally to Teams in the 1-What is Light and Sources submission folder.
