We have come to the end of our GTP Learning Circle, and with all good learning practise we should take the time to reflect on our learnings.
Go to the ‘Research and Answer’ page for our school. This is where students from other countries responded to us to give us their perspective, cultural ideas, countries’ ideas towards environmental disasters and how to prevent them…
With explanation reflect on the following things…
- What did we know about the theme (environmental disaster – the MegaQuarry as our example) when we started?
- What did we learn from the responses of the students from other countries?
- What was similar or different in the research answers received from the Learning Circle partners? Why do we think these differences exist?
- What was the most surprising thing to learn? Why?
Put your reflections together in a paragraph or two response and post it as a comment below.
1 we new that the world is in great jeporty because the humans care not of the land
2 that lots of peopl elive in sutch bad places but we have every thing we could posibily have
3 the same is that we all litter even in kenya or other places but we always try to keep the world clean even in other places
4that we all help clean the world and that some one at least picked up one piece of garbage on the floor
We knew little about the environmental theme of the MegaQuarry and then we learned a lot about the way that the disaster happened in the area that it happened in.
We learned that this could happen anywhere and alot of places have a bigger carbon footprint then we do and that we need to keep all of the natural resources that we have left for the future.
The patternes in the Learning Circle are similar in a few ways that we have had to research and then post the answers and then they respond with the differences in their country compaired to ours. I think think that the differences exist by the way that they live and it might be totaly diferent from the way that we live now.
The most surprising thing that i learned was that in the other countries, they have alot of other natural dissasters happen to them all the time and they live through it with minimal distruction to the other countries that rely on them for resourses that don’t grow naturally there.
Before I started this Global Teenage project thing I hardly had any knowledge on the term environmental sustain ability, but I had knowledge about what is happening to our environment and how to attempt to prevent problems within our communities. I learned that there are lots of problems around the world that are linked to global warming and pollution, we are told many things are happening but I had not realized that the problems were that bad. Many of our answers were different and we may have even have different understandings on the term environmental sustain ability around the world, but needless to say nobody’s answers were wrong because we all have differing opinions on this subject. I think for me the most surprising thing to learn was that even with all the problems going on around the world that the people in these predicaments are still friendly and hopeful even for something better. In my opinion this is absoultly amazing and we should use them as an example in our own lifes!(:
When I started I knew very little about my theme, but after a lot of research I learned some very important things. Before I started I only knew a few ways of helping, and that environmental sustainability is very important. I learned that it is important to a lot more things than just the air that we breath, and the food that we eat, but also important to those all around us that are more prone to caring about themselves over others, they need to keep it up too, for economic reasons. I learned that everyone wants to help, from all countries and nations, so that we can have a better world. I learned that people and places all over the world are being effected by global warming, some more dire than others. Some things are worse than I once believed . The answers were often different because in different place in the world different actions are taken and other people are effected more or less. The most surprising thing was to learn that all over the world people are being effected very much by multiple different things, but the people are still hoping for a brighter, better future.
Before reading all the comments I knew very little about the MegaQuarry and environmental sustainability .
I realized that some people are really trying to save their environment but some aren’t doing any thing to sustain our Earth and they are just making things worse. Such as cutting down trees most people don’t care how many trees they are cutting down as long as they have lumber for what they need. But in Egypt they think that the media should address their main problem of pollution of air and water(Nile River ),to make everyone clear of the problem and put an end to it . From reading all the responses from our question I learned that there are a lot of different problems all over the world relating to environmental sustainability . In most places water has been polluted and their trees have been cut down. Other places global warming is terribly effecting their environment ,pollution was one of the biggest problems that most place around the world had in common . I knew this was happing but not as much as I know realize.
The most surprising thing I learned from reading the responses was that their was a Chernobyl accident .I found this shocking because it killed 45ooo people and terribly effected Ukraine’s environment and even their buildings.
Before I started the global teenager project I did not know much. the global teenager project tought me lots. I learned that people in other countries have it alot harder than we do in Canada. For example in Romania they have floods, land slides, fires from global warming. In Bangladesh they have problmes with trying to saver the underground water. They are also trying to recicle more. Some similar problems with other countrys and Canada are that they all have the same problem with global warming as we do. Canada has more envirnment friendly programs and things that help the environment. We have windmills and organic farms. Maybe Canada can put some money to other countrys for a windmill or water wheel. I think the most surprising thing is that i learned that even all the other contrys have problems with global warming and worse problems with cutting down trees. I didnt think anyone could beat the U.S.A and big citys in Canada for polushion in the air. I learned alot.
